Debbie Lovell

I have been a practising counsellor in a private medical practise in Hong Kong for 10 years before returning to the UK in 2017 to pursue my doctorate.

Areas of interest
I have a multidisciplinary background which has led me to a general interest in the interface of psychology and physiology. Common issues in this field are the interaction of anxiety, anger, depression and stress with problematic eating, sleeping disturbances, sexual dysfunction, and muscle tension/pain.

I also have extensive experience of negative self evaluation working with issues such as low self esteem/self confidence, poor body image, performance anxiety, social anxiety, and shame.

Special interest
Sexual difficulties that emerge for individuals and couples such as: desire disparity within a couple, painful intercourse, erectile dysfunction, anxiety regarding sexual performance, body image and sexual self esteem, sexual trauma.

Therapeutic modalities
I work integratively and may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Psychodynamic and Solution Focussed depending on the clients needs and preferences
